Stetsons Board of Directors
Executive
Michael Rounding, President
Michael is serving as President for the Stetson Board of Directors for the 2025-26 season. This will be his first term on a Board for either the Calgary Stetson Show Band, or the Calgary Round-Up Band, but he has been a frequent volunteer in his four years as a member parent. While he was not a CSSB or CRUB member growing up, he always considered himself 'member by association:' he just hung out with the bands while his brother was a member. Michael currently has members in CSSB and CRUB; in Woodwinds and Brass, respectively.
Outside of Band, Michael holds a MSc in Computer Science, which he has applied in tech product design and management in diverse fields such as education, sport and fitness, and medical/dental. He is also an avid mountain biker, and member of the Canadian Ski Patrol, volunteering at Mt. Norquay on winter weekends. If you spot him, hit him up with any questions you've got, chat about visiting Norquay for a day, or just say hi!
Jen Martinson, Vice-President
Jen joins the CSSB board this year after serving on the CRUB board in the 2024-2025 season. Her passion for the marching arts began early when she joined the Regina Lions Band at the age of eight. Her love for marching band continued to grow when she moved to Calgary and joined what is now known as the Sound of the Rockies high school marching band and then joined the Stampede Showband.
Jen is an elementary school teacher and loves helping kids learn and grow. Her daughter Abby is now in her 3rd year of marching band as a snare drum player. When Jen is not volunteering and helping out with the band she can be found at the rink cheering on her son, Noah, as he plays goalie for the Wolverines. She loves what this wonderful community is all about and is excited to work with the staff and volunteers to create lasting memories for all the amazing members!
Neil O'Rourke, Treasurer
Neil joins the Calgary Stetson Show Band Board of Directors in his inaugural year as Treasurer. In his third year as a proud brass parent and chaperone, he is devoting additional time to assist the Band from the Board Executive in the 2025-2026 season. As a past member, this is his way of giving back to the community that provided a springboard into so many great memories. He is looking forward to assisting the staff and volunteers in creating new memories for this year's members.
Melynda Crampton, Secretary
Melynda is a passionate community volunteer and arts advocate with a deep commitment to youth development and local culture. She has served four years on the Calgary Round Up Band Association board and currently sits as Secretary for the Calgary Stetson Show Band. As an active chaperone and truck driver, Melynda supports the Bands of Calgary, where three of her children are proudly involved—one in the Stampede Show Band, one in the Calgary Stetson Show Band, and one in the Calgary Round Up Band. Her fourth child was previously a member of the Young Canadians and has since graduated.
For the past eight years, Melynda has hosted over 50 house concerts for independent musicians, helping to foster grassroots music and returning more than $60,000 directly to artists. Her dedication to community enrichment also includes longstanding service on the Didsbury Library Board, where she champions literacy and local programming.
In her free time, Melynda enjoys knitting and occasionally hunting. Professionally, she works for Insight as a Programs Coordinator, bringing her organizational talents and collaborative spirit to her role.
Meet the Directors at Large
Corinna Jackson, Director at Large
Our son Rory is in his first year of Stetsons, following three wonderful years in the Calgary Round Up band. I’ve had the privilege of seeing first hand what a transformational organization this is for so many youth, and as a music and band teacher myself I believe strongly in the power of music and group music-making to shape lives! This is my first year joining the board and I am thrilled to offer my help and support to both Stetsons and Round Up in any way I can.
Dan Glickman, Director at Large
Dan serves as a Member-at-Large on the Stetson Board of Directors for the 2025–26 season. This is his second term as Chaperone Coordinator, a role he approaches with dedication and enthusiasm. Now in his fifth year as a proud marching band parent, Dan currently supports two members in the marching arts: one in the Stetson Marching Band (Alto Sax) and another in the Stampede Showband (Trombone).
Over the past four years, Dan has been a committed supporter of the band—chaperoning events, driving the equipment truck, and helping out wherever needed. Inspired by the joy music brought to his children, he rekindled his own musical journey and is now in his fourth year playing Alto Sax with the Westwinds Bronze Concert Band.
If you have questions about chaperoning, feel free to contact Dan at chaperones@stetsonband.com. He’s often at rehearsals assisting the chaperone team—don’t hesitate to say hello!
Michael Decker, Director at Large
This is Michael's first year on the board and he is the proud parent of Alexander (1st year in Stetsons playing trombone) and Miriam who is in her 2nd year with CRUB as Color guard. When he is not volunteering with the bands, he works for the government of Alberta assisting Albertans to find employment. Michael is also a big Toronto Blue Jays and Calgary Flames fan!
Javida, Director at Large
This will be Javida's second term as a board member with CSSB, where she will be focusing on Healthy Hunger and Member Support as a director at large for the 2025-26 season. As a Respiratory Therapist with a BSc in Genetics, member health is a natural top priority for her!
Javida is a long time band parent, with current members in both CSSB and the Calgary Stampede Showband. She's excited to continue contributing to the long-term success of the marching band community, given the positive impact it's had in her family. If you have any questions or concerns related to member support and Healthy Hunger, don't hesitate to reach out!
